Chief Convenor: Planet Alert
The message is clear: our planet is warming.
The big question is: how do we tackle it? The ‘Environment
Movement’ has become one of the gravest challenges facing us in
the 21st century. And it is a challenge like no other-
it will integrate countries across the globe to partner and build
a world consensus on how we want to see the future of our world!
I welcome you to Planet
Alert-
India’s first and biggest initiative to combat a climate in peril.
Planet Alert has been conceptualized by GYAAN, a youth
organization that strives to accentuate pressing issues that
plague our future, and is partnered with the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of India in its first year. The movement has
been designed into a series of awareness and implementation
modules to offer personal as well as corporate and government
policy solutions to tackle the problem. The platform of Planet
Alert aims to unite leading environmental advocates,
decision-makers, industry ships, media, celebrities, NGO’s and
individuals under one roof to raise their voices.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
in its fourth assessment report has declared that we have only 7
years before the effects of global warming begins to affect our
planet. India is anticipated to be one of the most vulnerable
countries if this occurs. It will lead to the destruction of
coastlines across the country along with thousands of millions of
environmental refugees. And let us not forget extreme weathers,
changes in animal migration patterns and rise of new fatal
diseases. We need to tackle this problem from its grass-root
levels. Each individual, each household, each industry body and
each government must pledge to fight this problem.
We have everything in our power to stop global
warming, except for one thing- TIME. The only time we have is NOW.
I hope that the platform of Planet Alert helps each person make a
difference and emerges India as a leader to fight the biggest global
problem mankind has ever faced.
